Chemicals And Your Eyes: How To Protect Your Eyes

Book Appointment

Your eyes are incredibly delicate and highly vulnerable to chemicals found in everyday products. Cleaning agents, cosmetics, hand sanitizers, and even workplace fumes can irritate or damage eye tissues if they come into contact with them.

Common symptoms of chemical exposure include burning, redness, tearing, blurred vision, or a sandy/gritty feeling. Even mild household cleaners can cause irritation, while stronger substances like bleach or acids can lead to serious injuries if not handled carefully.

Here are a few suggestions on how you can protect your eyes:

  • Always wear safety goggles when using chemicals.
  • Avoid touching your eyes after handling cleaning or cosmetic products.
  • Rinse immediately with saline water if chemicals splash into your eyes, and seek medical help if irritation persists.

A little caution goes a long way, your eyes are too important to take a risk!
