D15 Colour Vision Test

Book Appointment

The D15 Colour Vision Test (also known as the D15 Farnsworth-Munsell Test) is a diagnostic test used to assess a person’s ability to differentiate between various colours. It is used to identify colour vision deficiencies or anomalies like red-green colour blindness.

The test consists of 15 coloured discs, which are arranged in sequence based on hue, from one colour to the next. The colours range from one shade at one end to another at the other end. The goal of the test is to arrange the discs in the correct order of their hue, starting from one colour and progressing through to the next.

Those with normal colour vision will be able to arrange the discs in a smooth gradient with no significant errors. Those with a colour vision deficiency will have difficulty distinguishing between certain colours, and the discs will not be arranged in a smooth gradient.

The D15 test is good at detecting protanopia (red-blindness), deuteranopia (green-blindness) and tritanopia (blue-blindness – although more rare).
