Seeing your eye doctor should be easy, and we do everything in our power at Perception Eyecare to make it that way. We work with numerous programs and insurers to make financing your eye care simple.

What Exams Are Funded Without Private Coverage?

Eye exams may be covered for members of the following organizations:

Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP)

OHIP covers the cost of one major eye exam every 12 months for residents of Ontario who are younger than 20 or 65 and older. It also covers one major eye exam every 12 months for those between these age ranges who have specific medical conditions, including:

Members of the ODSP may be covered for the following services:

  • New frames and lenses once every 3 years, when necessary.
  • Routine eye exams once every 24 months.
  • Assistance with the cost of children’s lenses whenever their prescription changes.

Individuals who qualify for benefits under OW may be covered for the following services:

  • Routine eye exams once every 24 months for members between the ages of 20 and 64.

Individuals who qualify under Indigenous Services Canada’s Non-Insured Health Benefits Program may be covered for the following services:
