A Quick Guide to Safe Eye Makeup Removal

Book Appointment

Your eyes are very sensitive—removing makeup gently protects both your vision and the delicate skin around them.

Here are some suggested tips:

  • Use a doctor-recommended, gentle eye makeup remover (look for “ophthalmologist-tested” or safe for sensitive eyes).
  • Soak a cotton pad or approved lid wipe, press on closed eyes for 10 seconds—don’t rub.
  • Wipe softly in one direction to avoid irritation and lash damage.
  • Use a cotton swab for the lash line or approved lid wipe—keep the product out of the eye itself.
  • Rinse with lukewarm water and cleanse to remove residue.
  • Clean off makeup every night after use

Harsh rubbing or leftover makeup can lead to irritation, blurred vision, clogged glands, and eye infections.

At Perception Eyecare, we offer several products to help maintain eyelid hygiene. If you would like to learn more about them, call 289-309-1090 to speak to one of our eyecare specialists today!

Keep it gentle, keep it clean, and your eyes will thank you.
